The Senior Accountant is responsible for organizing and managing the provision of financial accounting for MCC BC. The Senior Accountant further provides support to the Director of Finance and Administration in the management of accounting staff, properties, equipment and other assets owned by MCC BC.  MCC BC has a $13 million annual budget, a 9,000-10,000 donor list and 150 church constituency which includes 25,000 members. The Surrey MCC Thrift Shop is actively engaged in receiving and selling used clothing, furniture, and other items with all proceeds designated to support the relief, development, social justice and peace work of Mennonite Central Committee.

This particular assignment involves providing support to the shipping, receiving, and retail floor operations of the Shop, all in a manner that is efficient and fostering Christian respect for customers, staff and volunteers. The Interim New Foundations Program Coordinator is responsible for the delivery of a sustainable livelihoods program that involves a matched savings component for participants, and provides financial literacy, employment readiness, life skills training and community kitchens. The position has the flexibility to be based in either our Abbotsford or Vancouver office; training sites are located throughout the lower mainland. The Coordinator works with volunteers to assist participants with ongoing learning and mentorship, and, wherever possible, partners with a Church for its delivery. This position requires living out your Christian faith by serving others and advancing the mission of MCC as one engages with the community, program participants, volunteers and staff. This is a one year position filling in for a maternity leave and is accountable to the MCC BC Program Director.
